Innovation & Business Opportunities

Combined Healthcare has a proven track record as an innovative NHS Trust committed to delivering the highest standard of public services to our communities within a sound, sustainable and focused business framework.

The Trust is developing its core business in the areas of mental health and learning disabilities, particularly those which comply with national policy and local commissioning intentions.

However, the organisation will also seek to exploit all related service opportunities, in line with national policy, without detriment or risk to servicing local communities, where they add value and provide the prospect of sustainable growth in income to the Trust and add value to community and economic growth in Staffordshire and the West Midlands.

In line with national policy and its commitment to innovation, enterprise and partnership the Trust has developed a range of marketable products and services including the following;

A performance management software system

Child Protection e-Learning Training

In 1997, Combined Healthcare Trust Child Protection personnel developed an interactive training package in conjunction with BYG Systems Ltd and health colleagues in Nottingham. At the time, this was the first learning package for child protection training. Designated professionals within the Trust have kept the software updated and marketed it outside the trust to develop an income stream.

The e-Learning software provides a cost-effective and easy to use solution for the Trust to fulfil its statutory duty to train staff that come into contact with children or adults who are parents.  With over 2 hours of learning and access to library resources and reading materials the programme raises awareness of child protection issues and multi-agency working.

The package, which is also used by Stoke-on-Trent city council, is free to use for Combined Healthcare and PCT staff and is now available on-line.
