About the service
The Paediatric Psychology Team provides a specialist psychological service to children, young people aged 0-18 and their parents and families where there are psychological issues related to acute or chronic physical illness or traumatic injury.
Team members undertake psychological assessment and intervention. They also work jointly with other professionals and agencies and provide support, consultation and training about psychological issues.
The service covers North Staffordshire. Referrals are also accepted for out of area children and young people whilst they are inpatients / receiving medical care at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.
Team members work directly with the following specialties:
- Oncology
- Children’s palliative care, airway support /complex care
- Diabetes
- Cystic Fibrosis
- Gastroenterology
- Paediatric Intensive Care Unit
A small number of general paediatric referrals are also accepted from a range of other specialities.
