The Carers Team carry out carer’s assessments with people who are caring for someone experiencing mental health difficulties.
Referrals are accepted from either the carer’s themselves or from the range of professionals supporting the cared for person.
The team is made up of social workers and support time and recovery workers.
Carer’s assessments are completed with the carer in person and results in them having their own assessment and support plan aimed at providing services and support likely to maintain and improve their own physical and emotional wellbeing and in some cases to help prevent the caring situation breaking down.
Support to the carer may include emotional support on a one to one basis, the opportunity to attend a range of carer support groups, carer education and support training sessions, support when attending reviews, support in accessing leisure facilities, a carers time out service which also offers complimentary therapies, an active carers forum where carer have the opportunity to meet with other carers, access mutual support and have a voice within mental health services more generally and support in accessing training or employment.
