Combined launches the Unified Knowledge Layer

We are delighted to announce the launch of an exciting new way for our people to manage their actions, meetings and projects – the Unified Knowledge Layer (UKL).

The launch of UKL is the culmination of a two year project, initially begun as a key deliverable of the Corporate Recovery Group.  It will be rolled out in a sustainable, phased period over the Spring.

The vision for the UKL is to provide all of our staff with a single place they can go to securely on the web:

  • Where action owners can see all of their actions, and update and report on their progress – without having to wade through hundreds of emails or reports or spreadsheets;
  • where people managing meetings, programmes and projects can see the current state of play of all meeting or project actions, instantly updated every time any individual action owner provides an update;
  • with automatic notifications into action owners’ email inbox every time a new action is allocated to them or an update is due;
  • with the ability to download a spreadsheet with the very latest state of play, according to any filter or criteria – whether that’s all actions from a specific meeting or project, or all actions allocated to a particular person, or all actions completed, in progress or outstanding – or any combination of all of these criteria.

Initially, the UKL will feature actions from Executive Drop-ins with teams, Quality Visits, Open Trust Board Meetings and the Clinical Audit Programme.   Actions from further activities, projects and meetings will be rolled out over the Spring.

Anyone wishing to use the UKL for their own meetings or activities can contact the UKL Team at unified.knowledge@combined.nhs.uk to find out how they can get involved.
