“Our journey enters a new phase” – message to Combined staff from Dr Buki Adeyemo

Combined Healthcare’s Interim Chief Executive, Dr Buki Adeyemo, has today issued this video message to all staff

Hello to you all…it’s Buki here. This week will mark almost exactly 13 hundred weeks since I first started work in the NHS – in February 1997.  The vast majority of which has been spent working at all levels here as part of the family at Combined Healthcare.

I’ve seen huge changes over that time.  Good times, great times and not so good times. Success and challenge.

I’ve seen innovation and new ways of working that I couldn’t have imagined could be done. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet people who have inspired me and people who I hope I have in small way inspired.

I’ve seen triumph against the odds and – yes, occasionally and unfortunately – I’ve seen tragedy.

But amidst all of that change – over all of that time – there is ONE thing that has never changed at all.

And that is the spirit, the dedication and the sheer, naked talent and commitment that runs like marrow through the bones of Combined Healthcare and its people.

You know what we say – again and again.    Because it’s true. Together, we have been on a journey.   A quite remarkable journey. A journey whose destination we used to call “Towards Outstanding” and which we now call towards being Outstanding in ALL we do and HOW we do it,.

This week, our collective journey – and mine personally – has entered a new phase.

You may have seen that I have accepted an offer from our Trust Board to become your Interim Chief Executive. It is both an honour and a responsibility I could not have hoped to dream for all those years back when I started at Combined. And it is one I do not take lightly.

Over the coming weeks and months, we will continue our journey together and I know there will continue to be new challenges and new successes.

And when any significant changes come upon us, particularly when overall times are challenging and particularly when news of the change is fresh and involves an inevitable degree of uncertainty, t is only natural that people may have concerns or questions that they would like to raise or which might cause some concern.

I want you to know that I and my colleagues on our Executive and management teams are totally committed to listening to any concerns you may have, as well as give everyone the fullest possible informal and details about next steps as soon as we can do.

I can also assure you, that we will continue to be with you on this journey all the way.

Our doors will always be open to any of you to share both your ideas and your concerns.

To hear your hopes, your pride and your worries.  To celebrate your achievements. And to listen to difficult things you may want or feel the need to say.

As a simple demonstration of that – our new, totally confidential “Dear Buki” facility is being launched this week to continue the fantastic service provided until now by the Dear Peter service.

It’s only one small, early thing.  But it’s a perfect metaphor for the new chapter in the amazing journey of Combined Healthcare which we are now entering.

Change and constancy. Everything the same, but everything anew.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to what I have to say. And let’s move forward together.
