Our staff are here to support you and any use of force is an absolute last resort and must be necessary, proportionate and justifiable. We will do everything we can to avoid use of force as we know it is traumatic for you, our staff and anyone witnessing this.
In the event that force is used to contain you, we will do everything we can to learn from the incident, to make any repeat incidents less likely and you can expect to be part of this process.
Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) and complaints
We are always looking at ways to improve. Our PALS team provides confidential advice and support and will help you with any concerns that you may have about any aspect of your or your loved one’s care.
If you wish to make a comment, suggestion, compliment or complaint you can talk to people directly involved in your care, ask a member of staff for a feedback form, or complete a Friends and Family test form online, or call us.

Things that can help you during your stay in hospital
Working with your named nurse and doctor you can develop a care plan and treatment plan that includes:
- Your psychological and mental health needs
- Any physical health issues you may need support with
- Social needs (eg. housing)
- Cultural or spiritual needs
- Anything specific to you that will help us to support you, with an understanding of who you are. We can also speak to anyone you think can help us or anything else which you think would aid your recovery.
Supporting wellness and recovery
We all require different things to support us in difficult times. If you have wellness tools that help you, please let us know.
Your ward offers various activities that you have access to; please ask a member of staff for an activities plan.
Post-incident support and debrief
If you are involved in any incident, you can expect a staff member to offer you an opportunity to chat and reflect about what happened, this is known as a debrief. We are keen to help you to ensure we are always trying our best and learning from incidents on the use of force.
