About the service

Ward 2 is a 20-bedded single sex (male) acute mental health admissions unit. Admissions are accepted for people between the ages of 18 and 65 and are expected to be mainly short term.

Clinical support on the ward is provided by consultants and other medical staff and a wide range of mental health nurses, health care support workers and multi-agency staff. Assessment of needs and treatment to meet those needs is carried out by ward staff.

Community mental health teams provide support to the ward to ensure that a safe and clearly documented discharge plan is developed. Ward 2 adopts a person-centred, recovery-focused approach to care involving the patient within their recovery journey.
