The Care Quality Commission (CQC) plays a crucial role in regulating health and social care services in England, ensuring they deliver safe, effective, compassionate, and high-quality care. The CQC also safeguards the interests of individuals detained under the Mental Health Act.

North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust received an overall ‘outstanding’ rating from the CQC in 2019. This prestigious rating placed us among the top mental health providers in England.

In November 2021, the CQC inspected our primary care services, Moorcroft and Moss Green. The services received an ‘outstanding’ rating for being well-led. Additionally, they were rated as ‘good’ within Safe, Effective, Caring and Responsive domains.

Trust’s compliance with the Care Quality Commission

At North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust, we take pride in our commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare services. As part of this commitment, we ensure that all our registered locations comply fully with the essential standards of ‘Quality’ and ‘Safety’ set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The CQC conducts regular inspections of hospitals, care homes, and home care agencies. These inspections occur at least once a year and can be either announced or unannounced, depending on the nature of the assessment.

Inspectors can gather evidence remotely by collecting views from stakeholders, service users and staff. On-site visits involve direct observations of care, conversations with patients and their families, and reviews of staff records and policies.

Inspectors may be accompanied by specialist advisors, including subject matter experts and ‘experts by experience’ – individuals with in-depth knowledge of using healthcare services.

North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust remains dedicated to providing high-quality, safe care for all those who use our services. We collaborate closely with service users, patients, carers, service commissioners and the CQC to uphold the highest standards.

Our services are delivered from various locations. You can find inspection reports for sites that have undergone CQC assessments here.
