Quality improvement (QI)

Table of Contents

Quality improvement (QI) is about looking at what we are doing, seeing if we could do it better and bringing everyone together to redesign the way care is provided.

It is about making change happen. Quality improvement is something we can all play a part in.

Information here is for our colleagues, partner organisations, service users and patients who are interested in learning more about QI, want to know how they can get involved or need support on their QI journey.

You can watch recordings of our QI Network sessions any time here.

Workshop: Improving our services together – an introduction to co-production in quality improvement (QI)

This workshop offers the opportunity to try some quality improvement tools that can be used when we work together to improve services.

QI is really about giving the people closest to the issues affecting care the time, permission, skills and resources to solve them. The voice of the customer is at the centre of this.

It involves a logical and coordinated approach to solving a problem to bring about a measurable improvement. It is often used to improve the experience of people by focusing on ‘what matters to you’?

Who is this for?

Anyone who is interested in helping local services improve and would like to understand more about how this can be achieved.

Book onto the workshop via the Wellbeing College

Resources

Ideas and participation

If you are a Combined Healthcare member of staff or a patient or carer and you have a quality improvement idea, please complete this form and let us know your idea.

We are inviting patients, service users, their families, carers and others to join us to have their say and help us improve.

We need you in our quality improvement project teams, as what you have to say is very important to us. Often this is called co-production and underlines the quality improvement ethos that those close the problem have the best ideas on how to solve them.

Get in touch and tell us if you have used our services, what your interests are and how you would like to be involved. You can also do our QI training if you would like to – which would give you the skills and know-how to start a project of your own.

Watch this video as an example of co-production.
