Congratulations to North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust’s Combined Coaching Programme Team who has scooped the prestigious ‘Leadership Excellence Award for Organisations’ award from the Institute of Leadership’s The Leadership Awards 2023.

Led by the Trust’s Coaching Lead Julia Ford, Combined Coaching has had many successes including establishing a pool of 21 coaches at Combined Healthcare and 795 Coaching Culture modules accessed by Trust staff.

Julia Ford commented: “I am delighted that Combined Coaching has won the ‘Leadership Excellence Award for Organisations’ award. It is fantastic to have been recognised as a Trust that continues to develop and embed a coaching mentoring culture, empowering individuals to acknowledge, to grow and maximise their potential both personally and professionally, and ultimately improving patient experience and care. Our team feel it is really a privilege to win, so thank you to the judging panel for this recognition.”

Dr Buki Adeyemo, Chief Executive, North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “As a Trust, we are so proud that the Combined Coaching programme has been recognised in this way by the Institute of Leadership. The success to date of the programme has quite rightly been spotlighted which is truly deserved through the leadership of Julia Ford and the Coaching Team. Congratulations to all involved.”

Paul Draycott, Chief People Officer, North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust, added: “The team has done a wonderful job in developing and embedding this approach. The way we support our people and help them grow and thrive has been enhanced by Julia and the team.

“This is a wonderful accolade and testament to the team’s considerable work and also the way they have delivered this across Combined Healthcare. To win against such stiff competition from nationally and internationally renowned organisations is amazing!”

On Thursday 4 June 2026 Combined Healthcare hosted an Oliver McGowan Training Recruitment Day. The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is named after Oliver McGowan, whose death shone a light on the need for health and social care staff to have better training.  All colleagues at Combined Healthcare are required to complete the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism. To help facilitate the sessions, the Trust is looking to employ more experts with lived experience of autism or learning disability, to support this essential training as co-facilitators.
