About the service
The Liaison and Diversion Team is a specialist service commissioned via NHS England. Those in contact with the criminal justice system are far more likely to have unmet health and social care needs and vulnerabilities. The team offers specialist multi-vulnerability assessment from the point of arrest to the point of sentence. This enables key decision makers to have sufficient information about an individual’s needs in order to make informed decisions. The team also ensures that referrals to services to meet unmet needs are made and proactively supports engagement.
The service operates out of police custody and the magistrates court as well as having a community follow-up pathway to provide an assertive engagement approach.
