About the service

Ward 3 is a 20-bedded single sex (female) acute mental health admissions unit. Admissions are accepted for people between the ages of 18 to 65 and are expected to be mainly short term.

Clinical support on the ward is provided by consultant and other medical staff and a wide range of mental health nurses, health care support workers and multi -agency staff. Assessment of needs and treatment to meet those needs is carried out by ward staff.

Community mental health teams provide support to the ward to ensure a safe and clearly documented discharge plan is developed. Ward 3 works closely with the local Community Assessment Stabilisation and Treatment Team to ensure that evidence-based approaches and care are delivered to the female personality disorder population and delivers person-centred, recovery-focused approaches to care.
