About the service

Ward 6 is a 15-bed, mixed-sex unit providing specialist care for individuals aged 65 and over who have a diagnosis of dementia or potential diagnosis that causes complex care issues. Admissions are accepted via referral from community mental health teams and mental health liaison team and may be informal or under the Mental Health Act.

We offer comprehensive assessment, treatment and support tailored to the needs of older adults. Our focus is on delivering compassionate, person-centred care within a safe and therapeutic environment.

Our care is delivered by a dedicated multidisciplinary team, which includes consultant psychiatrists, doctors, mental health nurses, general nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, healthcare support workers and other specialist staff.

Together, we work collaboratively to ensure high standards of care and support for every individual on the ward.

We are proud of the service we provide and remain committed to supporting each person throughout their recovery journey.

Testimonials

I would like to thank all the staff for caring for my family member for the last 6 months. Over the last 6 years I have tried my hardest to care for them however their needs became to much for me to deal with. You made sure she was always given the best care available. There are not enough words for me to express my appreciation. I hope you all realise how invaluable you all are and what a difference you make to people's lives by doing what you do. All my love and thank you.

Thank you so much for looking after ***** it has not been easy for you some days. He was a lovely man, sorry you did not see him before the illness. You have given him all the care and attention he needed, you are all doing a wonderful job on Ward 6.

I would like to say a big thank you for all the love and support given to my Dad. The care, love and support given was above and beyond anything I have ever experienced. A big thank you.

To all the staff on Ward 6: I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to you all for the care you have given to ***** during her stay on Ward 6. It would perhaps be unfair to pick out individuals' names since you all have all had your part to play in her improvement although the names Steve and Ryan have cropped up regularly in her conversations. So a special mention to them. Also I am grateful to Kirstin for never failing cheerfulness in fielding my daily phone calls.

To all members of staff who have been involved with **** care on Ward 6 a very big thank you. The care, love and kindness that has been given to them and myself have been exceptional. You are an inspiration to the NHS.
