Combined launches video guides and new Combined Television (CTV) show for Quality Improvement

Combined Healthcare is starting 2025 with a major initiative to drive understanding and engagement with our Quality Improvement agenda – through the release of three new videos, including a brand new show on the trust’s Combined Television (CTV) digital channel – called The Quality Show.

The first video is our newest episode of Combined Minds, the trust’s very own version of TED Talks. This features our Quality Improvement Lead, Jane Beasley, explaining the concepts and thinking which lie behind her passion for Quality Improvement. You can watch this here.

The second video is a film for the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care System Quality Team, especially commissioned from the Combined communications team. This is an animated film offering an easy to understand introduction to Quality Improvement – you can watch this here

The third video is the launch episode of The Quality Show. This features the Chair of the trust’s Quality Committee and Senior Independent Director, Professor Pauline Walsh, in conversation with Mental Health Nurse Christine Horler, Community Engagement Co-ordinator Rachel Wooliscroft and Patient Safety Facilitator, Alicja Truman. The episode tells the story of the fantastic success of a Quality Improvement initiative to increase training and support for service users and carers through adoption of a Triangle of Care approach. You can watch this here.

The episode of the Quality Show is also available as a podcast on the trust’s Combinations Podcast here.

Commenting on the launch, Chief Nursing and Quality Officer Kenny Laing said:

“The pursuit of the highest standards of quality has always been at the heart of Combined’s vision to be outstanding in all we do and how we do it.  For many years, our SPAR Quality Priorities have guided us to provide services that are Safe, Personalised, Accessible  and Recovery-focused.

“I’m delighted that we have been able to harness the trust’s ability to innovate in its digital communications to help bring the reality of our quality agenda to a wider audience.   We look forward to many more episodes of the Quality Show to shine a light on the truly excellent initiatives and outcomes underway across Combined.”

On Thursday 4 June 2026 Combined Healthcare hosted an Oliver McGowan Training Recruitment Day. The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is named after Oliver McGowan, whose death shone a light on the need for health and social care staff to have better training.  All colleagues at Combined Healthcare are required to complete the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism. To help facilitate the sessions, the Trust is looking to employ more experts with lived experience of autism or learning disability, to support this essential training as co-facilitators.
