Working in partnership with The Community Foundation, North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust has launched the fourth grant round as part of the Community Mental Health Transformation Programme.

This is one of a series of community grants that have been available to support adults in North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent who live with a severe mental illness. The fourth grant round is focused on carers.

The aim of this round is to improve awareness and address the barriers for carers who care for someone with a severe mental illness. Through a recent Quality Improvement project, the trust have been able to identify known barriers that carers experience when caring for someone with a severe mental health condition.  The grant application addresses key focus areas to address these barriers.

The application window is open until 21 February 2025.

Colleagues pose for a photo at the Oliver McGowan training recruitment day
On Thursday 4 June 2026 Combined Healthcare hosted an Oliver McGowan Training Recruitment Day. The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is named after Oliver McGowan, whose death shone a light on the need for health and social care staff to have better training.  All colleagues at Combined Healthcare are required to complete the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism. To help facilitate the sessions, the Trust is looking to employ more experts with lived experience of autism or learning disability, to support this essential training as co-facilitators.
