Combined NHS Trust colleague, Tom Wilson, wins Pride of Britain award

Tom Wilson, an Expert by Experience Advisor from North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust, has recently won the Pride of Britain Regional Fundraiser Award in the West Midlands.

Outside of working for the trust, Tom is a keen darts player and has used his passion to run weekly darts tournaments at local pubs for around six years whilst fundraising for Prostate Cancer UK at the same time. Following a friend being diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017, Tom has been able to raise over £70,000 through asking attendees to pay an entry fee for the darts tournaments as well as running raffles at the events and selling Prostate Cancer UK memorabilia.

When asked what it meant to be given the Pride of Britain award, Tom was delighted:

“It’s a very proud moment and I want to thank everyone who has supported me with my fundraising over the last six and a half years. It was an honour to get to the finals and be able to attend the award night in London.”

At the awards night on 8 October at Grosvenor House in London, Tom was able to meet a number of celebrities and celebrate his achievements with other finalists across all the various categories.

Following on from being given the West Midlands regional fundraiser award, Tom has no plans of stopping his fundraising anytime soon:

“Next year I am planning on potentially running a charity ball, as well as continuing with my darts competitions and selling signed memorabilia. I want to do as much as I can for Prostate Cancer UK and raise as much money as possible.”

Combined NHS Trust would like to congratulate Tom on this amazing achievement.
