Not ready for work yet or not sure what you want to do?

Volunteering

Volunteering a few hours a week is a great way of building your confidence and exploring the sort of work you would like to do. Volunteers are valued members of our team who help us deliver great services, whilst at the same time learning new skills, finding out the issues around managing your work/ life balance and building your CV and current reference base.

Visit www.combined.nhs.uk/joinus and click on the volunteering link for more information about how to become a volunteer.

A range of organisations offer volunteering opportunities, including Healthwatch, Dove Bereavement Services, VAST, North Staffs Users Group, Savannah, SCOPE, British Heart Foundation, PDSA, YMCA or any charity shop.  Have a look around and see if you can find something to suit your needs to help develop skills and build confidence.

Work experience

Work experience offers the opportunity to explore a role to help decide if this is something you would like to do. You will have the chance to shadow people within a department or a specific role to find out more about what is involved on a day to day basis. We have a range of work experience opportunities which can be from one day to two weeks.

Visit www.combined.nhs.uk/joinus or email wideningparticipation@northstaffs.nhs.uk for further information.
