Dr Buki Adeyemo appointed as Chief Executive

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Buki Adeyemo as Chief Executive.

Following a thorough and extensive recruitment process, our Interim Chief Executive was successful in securing the position which takes immediate effect.

Buki became the trust’s Interim Chief Executive two years ago, having previously served as the Medical Director from 2012.

During her time as Interim Chief Executive, Buki has led the trust through the challenges of the pandemic, the delivery of innovative transformation projects to improve patient care, and welcomed the accolade of the prestigious HSJ (Health Service Journal) NHS Trust of the Year.

Dr Adeyemo started her medical career in Nigeria and graduated from the University of Lagos. She came to work for the NHS in 1997, and has spent the majority of her career to date working in North Staffordshire. She is a dual qualified old age and adult psychiatrist, and became a consultant of old age psychiatry in 2007 at Combined Healthcare. Buki is also a NHS Chief Executive representative on the Mental Health Network Board at the NHS Confederation.

David Rogers, Chairman of Combined Healthcare, said: “I would like to congratulate Buki on the appointment, which is so very well deserved. Buki is the longest-serving member of our executive team, and her commitment to the trust is clear to see. Buki stepped into the Interim position with ease – her strong values, leadership and experience have continued to drive the trust on our journey to become outstanding in all we do and how we do it. I’m sure you will join me in congratulating Buki on the appointment.”

Buki said: “It is a huge privilege to be appointed as Combined Healthcare’s Chief Executive. The needs of our patients and staff is always at the heart of my decision making to ensure that Combined retains and builds on our reputation. I have an ambitious vision for the future of Combined and I am excited by the opportunities to build on the growth and innovation already taking place as we continue to serve the population of Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire.”
