Dr Buki Adeyemo named by HSJ in Top 10 CEOs of 2024

Dr Buki Adeyemo, Chief Executive, has been named by the Health Service Journal as one of the top 10 CEOs in the NHS for 2024.

Dr Adeyemo came 8th in the annual list of top NHS CEOs.

HSJ said

“The judges were asked to choose the top 50 based on three criteria: the performance of the organisation they lead, their contribution to the wider NHS, and the personal example they set. One very encouraging sign is the presence of seven chief executives from a minority ethnic background in the 2024 top 50, up from four last year and just two in 2022. The standout performance is from Dr Adeyemo.”

Dr Buki Adeyemo said: “Any leader is only as good as the team they lead. Whilst I am obviously delighted by this news, as the HSJ themselves make clear, this is an achievement for the whole of North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust, not just one individual. Having been part of the Combined family for many years, I know that our continuing strength and our achievements come from the collective contributions and teamwork across all levels of the Trust from Board to ward.

“Whilst as ever not being complacent, this is further welcome external recognition of the continuing success of our determination to be outstanding in all we do and how we do it.”

Janet Dawson, Trust Chair, said

“I am absolutely delighted for Buki and the Trust. Great leadership is about the example you set, the collective performance you deliver and the values and behaviours you inspire. On all three of these fronts, Buki excels. It comes as no surprise to me and the rest of the Board that she has received this deserved recognition”
