We were proud to have as our Special Guest, Jon Ashworth MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. You can watch Jon’s keynote speech below.

Opening the Awards, our Chairman, David Rogers said: “It is my great pleasure to be your host tonight for our REACH Awards 2019. We have just relived the BBC broadcasting to the nation this Spring “It’s great to bring you some good news”. And isn’t it even better to BE the Good News they’re talking about!

“What a night we’ve got to look forward to. For the third year in a row, we have had a record number of nominations – over 330 this year.

“We’ve had more votes from you, the staff, for each other than ever before in our Proud to CARE Award. And it’s been the tightest race ever.

“Tonight with pride we look back on a truly Outstanding year, as we became only 1 of 2 specialist mental health Trusts in England to be given the CQC’s highest rating.

“And we celebrate brilliant examples of achievement, commitment and dedication by our people – the hallmark of what makes Combined so special and which enable us to look forward with confidence to our continuing journey to be outstanding in all we do and how we do it.

“We have colleagues from the local police and prison service here with us as we thank them for their support and recognise the work we do together. We have representatives from the Together We’re Better STP in which we’re proud to lead workstreams on mental health, OD and Systems Leadership.

“And we are delighted and proud to have as our Guest of Honour, Jon Ashworth MP – the Shadow Secretary of State for Health and Social Care.

“Last year we were proud to be the first NHS Trust in the country to invite Jon to attend a Trust Board meeting. Tonight we go one better by having him address our staff awards. Jon, we really look forward to hearing your insights

“Congratulations to every nominated candidate for these Awards – which cover staff as well as service users and volunteers. You really are the best of the best and it is our privilege and pleasure to have the opportunity to thank you and recognise all you do. Please enjoy the event and enjoy celebrating the great work that you and your colleagues do for the people of North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.”
