Combined Healthcare and The Mental Elf team up for ‘Prescribing in the Pandemic’

North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust and leading mental health blog The Mental Elf have announced a joint online event in February 2021 looking at the topic of ‘Prescribing in the Pandemic’.

Taking place from 11am – 12:30pm on Tuesday 2 February 2021, the event will be livestreamed on The Mental Elf’s YouTube channel and will feature talks and Q&As on prescribing in young people from Dr Mark Lovell, learning disabilities from Christine Hutchinson, and antidepressants from Dr Mark Horowitz.

Participants watching the livestream will be able to ask questions to the speaker panel through a chat facility on YouTube as well as on social media using the hashtag #PrescribingPandemic

“The COVID-19 pandemic has been very challenging for prescribing, and we have had to adapt and innovate quickly for service users,” said Ann Cox, Consultant Nurse and Clinical Lead, CAMHS, North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust, and organiser of the event. “This workshop is a great opportunity for those operating in the area of prescribing to come together online and discuss their experiences during the pandemic, and to learn from each other.

“It is brilliant to be working with The Mental Elf on ‘Prescribing in the Pandemic’, a respected source for mental health expert opinion, research, learning and continuing professional development.”

“We are delighted to work with North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust on this workshop,” said André Tomlin, Founder and Director, The Mental Elf. “The pandemic has curtailed many training opportunities for NHS staff, so it’s vital that we create new online spaces where professionals can learn from one another and continue to develop their skills.”

Staff from North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust will also participate in a separate afternoon workshop and discussion via Zoom for their CPD/training.
