About the service

Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Wellbeing Service (formerly Healthy Minds Stoke-on-Trent) is an improving access to psychological therapies (IAPT) service provided by North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust, Changes and North Staffs Mind.

The service provides talking therapies and self-help courses for people with common mental health difficulties such as mild to moderate anxiety and depression.

It is available to adults (over 18) who live in Stoke-on-Trent or who are registered with a Stoke-on-Trent GP.

Psychological therapies are commonly known as ‘talking therapies’ or ‘talking treatments’. Most people can benefit from talking treatments. They provide treatment for people with depression, anxiety and other mental health issues. They can stand alone or be used alongside medicine or tablets prescribed by the doctor.

Talking treatments can also help people to deal with difficult issues in life such as relationship problems, bereavement, concerns at work or physical illness. Where people have long term physical conditions, such as diabetes, talking treatments have been proven to support them to manage their condition more effectively.
