Available to all ages

The CAMHS Hub is now part of an integrated service, offering support to people of all ages via our Crisis Care Centre All Age Access Team.

If you are concerned about the urgent mental health needs of a child in your care, please contact us on the above number.

The Crisis Care Centre provides advice and assessment for young people and adults presenting with acute mental health problems which require crisis intervention.

It also serves as a single point of access for all new referrals for young people who are currently not involved with mental health services.

What is CAMHS?

CAMHS stands for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. We offer specialist advice, assessment and treatment when children and young people have emotional, behavioural or mental health difficulties. We take referrals for young people up to the age of 18 who have a GP in Stoke-on-Trent or North Staffordshire.

Mental health is how people think, feel and act as they face life’s situations.  It affects how people handle stress and how they get on with other people.

Mental health problems (for example – depression, anxiety, eating disorders) can affect the way people see themselves and their lives and influences the decisions they make.

Making a Referral

If you would like to make a referral to a CAMHS service, please use one of the options below.

We accept referrals from parents/carers and young people themselves. We also accept them from any professional who knows the young person well (for example – school, social care, GP or paediatrician).

Access the new Combined Wellbeing portal, where you can complete an online referral.

What Happens Next?

Following a referral, contact will usually be made with the referrer, young person and/or carer to establish the most appropriate intervention at this time. This might be a routine assessment appointment within a community CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) team, an urgent assessment appointment with the Crisis Care Centre Team, signposting to a more suitable service or agreeing that no input is necessary at this time.

Child protection is everyone’s business:

If you have any child protection or safeguarding concerns about the young person you are referring, you need to refer to Children and Young Person’s Services (Social Care) prior to making a referral to ourselves.
