Combined success at the Nursing Times Awards 2022!

The Nursing Times Awards 2022 took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane in London on Wednesday 26th October. North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare Trust were shortlisted for three awards in the ‘Learning Disabilities Nursing’ category, and won in the ‘Enhancing Patient Dignity’ category!

The Ward 2 team received their win for their Recovery Book which has been co-produced with staff and service users on Ward 2 which has now been rolled out across acute services. To see the moment the win was announced, you can view a clip on Twitter here.

The comment from the Judges was:

The judges were unanimous in recognising the outstanding impactful nature of this project, Recovery Book. They were particularly impressed with the genuine collaborative partnership working between patients and professionals in this project, which helps empower patients to have full involvement in their care and recovery. The recovery resource acted as an enabler that facilitated culture and mindset change within the Trust and has created new patient focused roles within it. The panel was also impressed at the clear consideration of sustainability with this resource.

We are immensely proud of our Ward 2 team and the work they have done on this Recovery Book, where they have engaged both staff and service users collectively in culture change to improve compassionate care. It is clear that the Recovery Book has proven its usefulness, popularity and effectiveness in a time of challenge and change for acute care.

Being shortlisted for these awards is an achievement in itself, and although the Learning Disabilities team did not win an award for their three separate nominations, they are an OUTSTANDING team and continue to support our service users with their excellent patient-centred care. We want to wish them a big congratulations and express our pride in the work they are doing, as well as the accomplishment in being shortlisted.
