Outstanding work
Firstly, it probably goes without saying, just how proud I am of everyone working in the Trust; from those working in the hospital who have compassionately managed during such a challenging time, or those who have faultlessly adapted to a new way of working, literally overnight.
It was a pleasure to listen to Jayne Underwood, who is the ward manager on ward 7 sharing the pride that her team had when they successfully managed the first COVID outbreak within the Trust. I for one think that Jane’s leadership was admirable. We heard from colleagues on ward 4 who also had similar feelings of pride, who spoke openly about the demands of working on the wards during this time, yet they all felt the same sense of pride. They spoke with such an upbeat tone, It was a pleasure to listen to and confirmation that our patients truly are in good hands.
Looking forward, there were positive ideas about how we can establish new ways of working, and a feeling of a sense of empowerment. Everyone who contributed spoke about the ‘sense of team’ being strengthened and relationships being even stronger and were keen to retain this sense of togetherness moving forward.
What really struck me about our coffee morning was the ability to connect with such a wide range of people, including those on duty on ward 4 being able to share a coffee with us was priceless. It was also great to hear from Hannah Bloor, a CPN in our Community LD Team, who shared her pride of how her team adapted to the new technology and the value of their daily team catch ups, she also thanked her colleagues in the IST team for their support. Other community staff valued the ‘Trust’ that they were awarded to work flexibility, allowing them to manage the demands of family life also.
So thank you so much to everyone who took part. Please do take the opportunity to join our coffee’s mornings, due to the success of last Friday, there will certainly be more.
Best wishes and stay safe – Kenny
