The Coronavirus challenge is bigger than anything most of us will have faced in our working lives. But the bigger the challenge, the greater are the heroes and heroines who rise to it.

We are proud at Combined Healthcare of the values of compassion and teamwork that drive what we do and who we are.  We want everyone who works for us and with us to have the opportunity to show solidarity, appreciation and gratitude for each other – for the things we do, for the extra mile we go, for the compassion we show.

We know that everyone is united in this challenge.  Frontline staff and support staff.  Staff working on our wards and people working throughout our community teams.  Permanent staff and bank.  Service users, carers and volunteers.  We are ALL in this together and we want to highlight, support and recognise everyone

Supportive team

As a trainee nurse associate my hub team is ward 6. I normally return to ward 6 when I'm no longer on my placements, usually during the holidays.
Considering my placements are all temporary paused. I have since returned to the wards to help support the current crisis. I have been fortunate to support various wards including ward 7 and I'm truly honoured to have worked alongside some amazing and outstanding members of staff.
Upon my arrival on ward 6. I was welcomed back by various colleagues who provided me with a warm and positive reception. Anxieties have been high but the team have remained supportive to one another. I have observed consistent care and compassion for every patient. The team are extremely resilient. No task is too big. They have all pulled together like true team troops in the current crisis situation. However I'd personally like to mention Maria taaffe. Maria is an excellent team player. She always goes the extra mile with the patients and often listens to all of our personal woes. She is the warmth on a cold winters day. You never know if she's anxious or down herself as she always has a beautiful smile on her face, a smile that lights up the room. I'm proud to call her my colleague. Maria deserves to be mentioned because she is indeed highly appreciated.
I'd also like to give Alison Street a special mention on returning from her retirement, especially in the current situation. Alison is a fantastic nurse with an infectious bubbly personality and brings joy to the shift.
It's great to have her back and have her her valuable support.
Lastly a special mention to Steve, Nicola and Faye. Who are currently aspirant nurses. They have all demonstrated excellent professional nursing standards and are a credit to their new nursing roles. I wish them all the best in their futures and I'm grateful to have them working at combined.

What is your message to the person or team you are highlighting?

I'd just like to say a huge thank you to all of the staff for pulling together in these uncertain times.
Thank you for your support.
